Malaysia strolled past England 4-1 in the Thomas Cup Group C match held at the Kunshan Sports Centre, here Sunday.

World number two, Datuk Lee Chong Wei took only 34 minutes to give Malaysia the first point after disposing Toby Penty 21-15, 21-11 in straight sets.

"My opponent did not pose a challenge. I used the match to geet a feel of the court," he told reporters after the match today.

Malaysia decided to rest second men's singles Iskandar Zulkarnain Zainuddin as a strategy and to evaluate both Chong Wei Feng and Goh Soon Huat performance.

"We want to easily get pass England and Germany before facing South Korea before deciding the quarter final matches," he added.

Chong Wei was lined-up as skipper, Wei Feng, Soon Huat as singles players while doubles were Goh V Shem/Tan Wee Kiong and Koo Kien Keat/Tan Boon Heong.

Goh V Shem/Tan Wee Kiong streched the lead by beating Marcus Ellis/Chris Langridge 21-12, 21-17 before Wei Feng overcame Sam Parsons 21-10, 21-10.

Koo Kien Keat/Tan Boon Heong however failed to deliver the third point after losing to Peter Briggs/Tom Wolfenden 18-21, 21-13, 17-21.

Soon Huat wrapped up the winning point after swept aside Alex Lane 21-15, 19-21, 21-13.

Malaysia will play Germany tomorrow in their second Group C match.
