National badminton champion Datuk Lee Chong Wei reached the final round of the 2015 World Badminton Championships after defeating the second seed from Denmark, Jan O Jorgensen 21-7, 21-19, in the semi-finals at Istora Senayan here, Saturday.

In the 42-minute fight, Lee had no problems in defeating Jorgensen in the first set, by hitting smash after smash to rack up points.

However in the second set, Lee had to work hard to beat Jorgensen after his opponent showed an improved performance.

But Lee managed to act quickly to squash Jorgensen's hope of dragging it into the rubber set.

With the win, Lee will meet defending champion Chen Long of China on Sunday, in a 're-match' of the finals in the same tournament last year, held in Copenhagen.

Chen Long beat Lee in last year's final, before the latter's silver medal was withdrawn after he failed doping tests.

Lee said he did not want to think about Chen Long's strengths and weaknesses and instead wanted to focus on his own abilities to grab the title from his opponent.

"I am ready to meet Chen Long again, I hope my dream comes true, I want to become world champion in the tournament, which may be the last one for me," he said.

In a total of 20 meetings between the duo, Chen Long has won 11 games while Lee has emerged victorious in nine.

Earlier, 26-year-old Chen Long beat young Japanese star Kento Momota, 21-9, 21-15, in the other semi-finals match.
