The Kedah state government has pledged to reward Puskas Award winner Mohd Faiz Subri for winning the award at the 2016 FIFA Awards in Zurich, Switzerland.

Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah however, did not disclose the form of incentive or reward that Mohd Faiz will receive.

"We will give Mohd Faiz a one-off incentive but I cannot announce what the reward is now," said Ahmad Bashah at the "Dari Mata Turun Ke Hati" programme organised by Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) here Wednesday.

He said Mohd Faiz's achievement was a proud moment for the state and the country because the win was the first of its kind by a Malaysian.

Apart from the incentive, Mohd Faiz will also receive the Ahli Cemerlang Semangat Jerai (ASK) from the Sultan of Kedah, Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'Adzam Shah in conjunction with the Sultan's birthday that will be celebrated on Sunday.

Meanwhile, in the programme, 500 primary and secondary school children had their eyes checked and if required to wear glasses, were given spectacles for free.

Also present was BSN's deputy chief executive (Strategy and Communications), Kameel Abdul Halim. -- Bernama
