Kedah topped the Super League table after a 1-0 victory over Kelantan at the Sultan Muhammad IV Stadium, last night.

Team captain Baddrol Bakhtiar's goal in the 81st minute through a penalty was enough to give the Red Eagles three precious points, and claim top spot with 11 points from five matches.

Pahang leapt to second place in the standings with 10 points, edging ahead of Perak on goal difference after a 6-1 drubbing of Penang at the Darul Makmur Stadium in Kuantan.

Gambian import player Sumareh Mohamadou and Wan Zaharulnizam Wan Zakaria put The Elephants ahead with goals in the 16th and 24th minute before the visitors reduced the deficit through Nigel Dabinyaba in the 31st minute.

In the second half, Dollah Salleh's side stepped up a notch, with their other four goals coming through Joseph Kalang Tie (66th minute), Brazilian import Matheus Alves Leandro (73rd) and Mohamad Ashari Samsudin (84th and 85th) to complete the rout.

At the Perak Stadium in Ipoh, the home team defeated defending champions Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) 2-1.

'The Boss Gaurus' squad began the match strongly with their Palestinian import Yashir Armando Pinto Islame scoring in the seventh minute only to see the Southern Tigers equalise through striker Ahmad Hazwan Bakri just two minutes later.

Both sides traded attacks throughout the match, but Perak got the upperhand when Bulgarian import player Vladislav Mitkov Mirchev put the home side ahead again in the 75th minute, which was good enought to claim all three points at the final whistle.

T-Team, meanwhile, failed to capitalise on advantage and had to settle for a 2-2 draw with PKNS FC at the Sultan Ismail Nasiruddin Shah Stadium.

The home side were in front at half-time through two goals from Uzbekistan import Farhod Tadjiev in the ninth minute and 45th minute but squanders the lead as Mohd Khairul Ramadhan M Zauwawi put the Red Ants back into the game in the 78th minute before Mahamadou Samassa scored an own-goal in the 90th minute.

Meanwhile, newcomers Melaka United marked their first league win after defeating Sarawak 1-0 with South Korean import Jeon Woo-young finding the winner in the 13th minute at Stadium Negeri Petra Jaya, Kuching.

In the only Super League match played Friday, Selangor had thrashed Felda United FC 3-1 at the Selayang Stadium. -- Bernama
