Leading Malaysian racing driver, Jazeman Jaafar secured his first career Formula Renault 3.5 Series pole position in Monaco, on Saturday.

His outstanding performance proved his mastery of the street circuit with the fastest lap of qualifying and his first pole position, in his third season of racing in the FR3.5 Series.

Jazeman, who also had a strong track record in Monaco and having scored podium finishes on both his previous visits, was the fastest with a time of one minute 23.425 seconds beating his Fortec Motorsports teammate Oliver Rowland (1m 24.370s) in the first half.

"I'm totally over the moon to have grabbed my first pole position in the series and to do it here is just fantastic. I love this place and I guess that showed today. It's not an easy circuit to get right and the barriers are very
close when you're on the limit but it's such an adrenalin rush driving here.

"For tomorrow's race, I'm gunning for victory. Starting from the pole is, of course, the best place to be but I have alongside me my biggest rival and team mate, Oliver, so I'm going to have to make sure I nail the perfect start if I'm going to be in a position to take the win," he said in a statement, today.

The second round of the Formula Renault 3.5 Series has the prestige of being a support championship at the Formula 1 Grand prix, so Jazeman is under the spotlight of the F1 world and no better opportunity to show his skills on the race track.
