The FA of Malaysia will be holding a meeting with its affiliates and teams competing in the M-League on release pf players for centralised training.

FAM secretary-general Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin in his latest entry on FAM's official Facebook account said the meeting was necessary in view of the upcoming qualifiers for the 2018 AFC Under-23 championship and also the 29th SEA Games.

He said as the competitions were not in FIFA's calendar, the teams reserved the right not to release their players but if all the teams refrained from doing so, there would be a huge problem.

Kuala Lumpur will be hosting the 29th SEA Games from Aug 15-30 while the AFC Under- 23 qualifiers will be held in Bangkok from July 19-23.

For the AFC Under-23 qualifiers, Malaysia are drawn in Group H with Thailand, Indonesia and Mongolia for a slot in the finals in China from Jan 9-27 next year. Only the champions of the 10 groups and top five runners-up will qualify. -- Bernama
