Sepang International Circuit (SIC) CEO Datuk Razlan Razali feels the new contract to organise Formula One (F1) here, needs some flexibility.

Razlan said every week the Formula One Management (FOM) seemed to have a surprise in store in the terms of the contract, and that needed to be studied further to protect the rights of the organiser.

"Every week they (FOM) seem to have a 'surprise', so the (SIC) need to study the terms of the contract in detail. We hope the surprises will stop so that we can go ahead and sign the contract.

"The terms included has financial implications, so we are still discussing. The organising fee is the same but there are 'associated cost' involved that we need to absorb...that is why we are still discussing," he said after signing a Memorandum of Understanding with Rudy Project, the sunglasses sponsor for the Drive M7 SIC Racing team.

Rudy Project was represented by its managing director W.W Liau.

He said the government had asked him to study the contract so that the SIC can host the F1.

"The government also wants me to finalise the contract but before making any confirmation, I need to ensure the interest of SIC is taken care. The contract must be flexible," he said.
