Perak head coach Mehmet Durakovic is satisfied with the performance of his boys despite a narrow 1-0 win over Penang in a 2017 Super League here, last night.

Collecting three points was more than important than scoring many goals as it could boost the confidence of his players for the Malaysia Cup first leg semi-final match against Johor Darul Ta'zim on Oct 14.

"For me, one, two three or even four goals would not mean much if we fail to collect three points in the match tonight.

"Penang had given us a tough fight and breaching their goal once was good enough," he told reporters after the game.

Playing before 5,000 fans, Perak clinched the match with a goal scored by Mohd Nizad Ayub.

Durakovic also commended the performance of several reserve players fielded in the match as they played according to plan.

Meanwhile, Penang head coach Zainal Abidin Hassan said his players needed to improve the quality of their performance if they want to win the last Super League match against Selangor on Oct 28.

He said a win would not change the position of Penang who are at the bottom of the table but it would bring much cheer to the supporters. - BERNAMA
