The Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) has contacted the Badminton World Federation (BWF) to obtain the result on Datuk Lee Chong Wei's doping case before the three-week period as stipulated.

On April 11, three members of the BWF panel had yet to decide on the case involving the national singles champion and the result would only be known within a three-week period.

BAM deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Norza Zakaria said if it was allowed, the association wanted Chong Wei to play in two major sporting events.

"If possible, we want Chong Wei to be involved in the Sudirman Cup tournament and the SEA Games. We will take the initiative so that we don't have to wait up to three weeks.

"We have all carried out our responsibility to provide the best defence for Chong Wei...consequently (we) only hope all our presentations and arguments give a positive effect," he told reporters after attending the opening of the International Conference on Sports Medicine and Science, here last night.

The conference, from Monday to Thursday, was opened by Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin.

Chong Wei, 33, was temporarily suspended by the BWF since Nov 11, 2014 after being found to have consumed the banned substance dexamethasone while competing in the World Championship in Copenhagen, Denmark, in August last year.
