The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) has been reminded to uphold their integrity and the image of Malaysian football, as well as to stay off corruption scandals.

Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said corruption is an act that can humiliate and tarnish the image of football industry.

"So, we must view this matter seriously and most importantly, ensure that the FAM stays off corruption scandals," he told reporters after attending the 100Plus 'The Great Stay Thirsty' campaign at the KL Convention Centre here on Friday.

Khairy said this in response to the recent arrest of seven senior officials from the football's world governing body (FIFA) on corruption charges in Zurich, Switzerland.

Earlier, Khairy, on behalf of the ministry, received sponsorship of RM2 million from 100Plus in support of the national football programme featuring Brazilian football legend, Pele.
