Kedah head coach Tan Cheng Hoe today confirmed receiving a letter of appointment as assistant coach of Harimau Malaya from the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) on April 5.

Cheng Hoe said he submitted the appointment letter to Kedah Football Association (KFA) secretary Datuk Aminuddin Omar on April 6 and was still waiting for a reply from KFA.

"I cannot report with FAM until I get a reply from KFA," said the popular coach who sent his resignation as Kedah team head coach on April 1.

KFA had asked Cheng Hoe to submit the appointment letter from FAM before making any decision on his position as Kedah team head coach.

Earlier, Cheng Hoe spent 15 minutes with Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah at Wisma Darul Aman to inform of his appointment as assistant coach of Harimau Malaya.

Cheng Hoe said Ahmad Bashah was happy that a Kedahan was picked as assistant coach of Harimau Malaya but was worried for the future of the high flying Red Hawks. --Bernama
