Mohd Faiz Subri's achievement of being shortlisted as one of the top three for the FIFA Puskas Award 2016 has changed the life of his family into a life far from ordinary.

His wife Norzawanis Hashim, 29, admitted that they started to get more attention from local football fans who would not miss the opportunity to take a selfie when meeting the Penang player who was born in Ayer Hitam, Kedah.

"Our life has somewhat changed as more people begin to pay more attention in addition to receiving many phone calls. I'm also nervous and excited to get the chance to accompany my husband to Zurich.

"I really hope that he can win but if he doesn't, I'm okay with it," she told reporters at the KL International Airport here Sunday before leaving for Zurich with Mohd Faiz and their two children, Akief Fayyadh, four, and eight-month-old Muhammad Aqil Zayyan.

The winner will be announced at the FIFA football awards 2016 scheduled to be held in Zurich, Switzerland on Monday or early Tuesday in Malaysia.

Norzawanis said she had also made appropriate preparations to ensure the comfort of her two children as it was currently winter time in Europe.

Mohd Faiz's wonder goal was scored during a Super League match against Pahang, which Penang went on to win 4-1, in February last year.

The other two candidates for the award are Johnath Marlone Azevedo da Silva from Brazil and Venezuelan woman, Daniuska Rodriguez.

Football fans can still vote until 1am Tuesday in Malaysia through the FIFA official website, www.fifa.com.- Bernama
