Playing on their own turf was definitely helped Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) team as they recorded a 4-0 win over Philippine club, Global FC in a Group F match of the AFC Cup, last night.

The match at the Tan Sri Hassan Yunos Stadium, Larkin here started off aggressively with JDT almost scoring in the sixth minute via Ahmad Bakri.

But the agility of the opposition goalkeeper Patrick Deyto could not be denied when he successfully parried the attempt.

The Southern Tigers first goal only came in the 30th minute via Mahalli Jasuli who made full use of a pass from team captain Safiq Rahim.

Three minutes after that, Global FC's goalmouth was again pierced by a Safiq penalty kick.

Referee Kim Daeyong gave the penalty to JDT when Ahmad Bakri fell down after he was kicked in the leg by a Global FC player in the penalty box.

In the 86th minute, JDT import player Brian Federico Ferreira continued to pressure the opposition team by scoring the third goal for his team, followed up with one more goal by Marcos Antonio in the 89th minute.

With this latest win, JDT jumped to the top of the group from second place with seven points, overtaking Global FC with a one point advantage. - BERNAMA
