UMNO Youth chief, Khairy Jamaluddin will hold a meeting with party president, Datuk Seri Najib Razak to present several proposals made by Youth delegates nationwide.

Khairy said, the Youth wing’s secretariat will be asked to scrutinise every proposal received to understand the wishes of the grassroots.

“We will raise the issues and views of UMNO Youth members from the grassroots level so that their concerns can be addressed.

“Among the issues raised were political donations, the people’s perception, investigations regarding political funds and 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) which was not only discussed among Youth members but the younger generation from outside the party,” he said after chairing the UMNO Youth Exco Meeting at the Putra World Trade Centre here today.

So far some 182 Youth wing divisions have conducted their meetings while the remaining nine will conclude this weekend.

Khairy said, he will also hold a meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister, who is also UMNO vice-president, Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to ensure their voices are heard and accepted by the top two government leaders.

He also said, the Youth wing has arrived at several resolutions, among them they want the issue surrounding 1MDB and political funds to be resolved as soon as possible.

“We want these issues to be resolved as soon as possible. We also vow to strengthen the party as it faced several challenges and we are confident these problems will be resolved,” he said.

He said, the Youth wing which represented the voice of the younger generation and the was also the bridge linking UMNO and young voters, needed to play a role to address the perception and perspective of the younger generation to the party leadership.

“Each proposal would be vetted. The Youth wing will relay the needs of the younger generation especially those from outside the party so that the leadership can do what is necessary in order to regain their confidence in the party,” he said.

In another development, Khairy said, the wing will not make any decision on the proposals so that the party elections can be carried out next year.

“For now we are tied to the decision of postponing the party polls for 18 months,” he said.

On June 26, the UMNO Supreme Council had decided to postpone party polls, scheduled for next year, for 18 months in a bid to strengthen the party.
