Wanita Barisan Nasional (BN) today pledged its full support for the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, who is also BN chairman.

"As a party machinery which has always been close to the people, we know that the majority of the people at the grass roots are still supporting Najib.

"Hence, we are bringing the voice of the people and will continue to support the leadership of the prime minister," Wanita BN chief Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil told reporters after chairing the Wanita BN meeting at the Menara Dato Onn here.

She said Wanita BN also regretted and was saddened by the former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad's move in joining the crowd at the illegal Bersih 4 rally last weekend.

On the proposed amendment to the Communications and Multimedia Act, Shahrizat said Wanita BN would submit their proposal to the Communications and Multimedia Ministry to have a licencing framework be formulated to supervise the operations and publications of individuals or organisations involved in developing news portals.

She said this would enable Malaysia to set an international benchmark in improving Internet governance and encouraging accountability of social media users.
