Penang UMNO Youth lodged a police report over a solo exhibition by cartoonist Zunar on Friday after it claimed that the artwork were deemed rude and provocative.

Its chief, Rafizal Abdul Rahim criticised Zunar and the Penang government for exhibiting and allowing the exhibition of the artwork which allegedly mocked Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, to take place.

"We don't want this rude artwork to be displayed and Zunar is supposed to respect the country's leader who has been given the mandate by the people.

"Penang UMNO Youth also raps Chief Minister, Lim Guan Eng who allowed it (the cartoon) to be displayed openly, in fact he officiated the exhibition himself," he told reporters after lodging the police report at the Northeast district police headquarters here on Friday.

Zunar or Zulkiflee SM Anwar Ulhaque held the public exhibition at level two of the Komtar Building here.

The event was forced to stop following commotion by a group, led by Rafizal, and the organiser at about 3pm.

Meanwhile, the district police chief ACP Mior Faridalathrash Wahid, when contacted by Bernama, confirmed to have received the report. - BERNAMA
