UMNO Youth is focusing on explaining local and national issues to the young generation in preparing for a possible early state election.

Its chief, Khairy Jamaluddin said the young generation had access to a lot of information which needed to be answered and clarified by the government.

He said one should not think that national issues at the central level had no impact on the young people in Sabah.

"We have two approaches, firstly, we tackle the local issues and secondly, we explain the national issues to them," he said when met by reporters after the Sabah state-level Fit Malaysia Programme, here, today.

He was asked on UMNO Youth's preparations following speculation that Sabah would be holding its state election earlier than the rest as what happened in the 13th general election in 2013.

Khairy who is also Youth and Sports Minister, said he had already informed Sabah UMNO Youth head, Yamani Hafez Musa to go to the ground to get close to the young generation, especially from the Chinese and Kadazan-Dusun-Murut communities.

He said this was to explain to them the issues that had not been resolved, but must be resolved.

Khairy said overall, Sabah UMNO and Barisan National Youth were prepared if the state election were to be held earlier.

"I believe BN will receive a big mandate and continued support from the people of Sabah," he added.
