UMNO Youth is focusing on 15 Malay majority seats should Penang decide to hold a snap election soon, said its chief Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar.

He said he had instructed UMNO Youth and the Penang Barisan Nasional (BN) to start mobilising the party's election machinery from now and hold meetings in preparation for the state election.

"There is a possibility that the Penang state legislative assembly will be dissolved soon due to personal problems faced by the Penang chief minister (Lim Guan Eng).

"I therefore urge Penang UMNO Youth and BN to get ready to face the election any time," he said in a press conference after chairing the UMNO Youth exco meeting here Monday.

He said he noted that support for BN among youth groups had seen an increase of five percent based on the Sungai Besar, Selangor and Kuala Kangsar, Perak by-election results recently.

The number has increased to 50 percent compared to 45 percent during the 13th general election (GE13), which has given some hope to BN in winning GE14, he said.
