Over 150,000 UMNO members who flocked to the Bukit Jalil National Stadium to join in the party's 71st anniversary celebration last night had witnessed the launch and the development of the KL Putra World Trade Centre (KL PWTC) project, including the construction of its 70-storey tower.

The historic event began with the presentation of a copy of Al-Quran and a 'keris' by 13 Malay warriors representing the 13 states of Malaysia to UMNO president Datuk Seri Najib Tun Abdul Razak.

To symbolise the launch, Najib placed the Quran and the 'keris' on a special place on the stage, which prompted the visual representation of the new KL PWTC project and the ongoing construction works to be shown on the big screen in the stadium.

The KL PWTC, which is expected to be completed by 2020, will have a unique architecture inspired by the folding style of the traditional Malay samping and the carving of keris hilt, which would be a new attraction in the capital.

The tower will house offices and six-star hotel with 250 rooms, restaurants as well as shopping podium.
