The Parit UMNO division members are advised not to sympathise with the former UMNO leaders planning to form a new party.

Its division chief Datuk Mohd Zaim Abu Hassan said UMNO members must instead safeguard the party and the institution of the party's president so as not to be weak that members joined them.

"When our former UMNO leaders set up a new party, as UMNO members, we should not show any sympathy and pity on them," he said when opening the Parit UMNO Division Wanita, Youth and Puteri delegates meeting, here today.

Mohd Zaim said he assured that the Parit UMNO members would always support the current UMNO leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak even though the party was facing attacks from quarters out to split UMNO.

"To my knowledge, none of the Parit UMNO members wanted to join the former UMNO leaders, let them fall. We will forever be with UMNO," he said.

In the meantime, Mohd Zaim said Perak UMNO had already started eyeing potential candidates for the next general election.

"The party also must increase their members and voters…we need to register more voters to ensure UMNO and Barisan Nasional win in the next election," he said.
