Sarawak Chief Minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem said it is for him to decide later who will be the next Sarawak deputy chief minister.

He said this when asked whether Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas would be the next deputy minister as he has been nominated to contest the Bukit Saban seat in the coming state election.

"He (Uggah) will stand in Bukit Saban, the moment he is elected he will resign as federal minister and that is for me to decide later (to appoint Uggah as deputy chief minister)," he said.

Adenan, who is also Sarawak BN chairman, disclosed this at a press conference to announce another 11 BN candidates for the coming state election, including three direct BN candidates for Serembu, Bukit Semuja and Mulu seats.

Meanwhile, political analyst Datuk Peter Minos, in a statement Tuesday, opined that Adenan had made a very good and wise decision in picking Miro Simuh, 43, for Serembu and John Ilus, 52, for Bukit Semuja.

He said both candidates are relatively young and qualified besides having potentials and time to rise up and prove themselves in the BN.

"The chief minister did the right thing in using the BN direct formula for Serembu and Bukit Semuja, the two areas being in some tussle between BN component parties and even key personalities," said Minos.

He said the BN direct way prevented any internal dispute coming into the surface which could be damaging to the BN in the election.

"Once again Adenan shows his edge of wisdom all for the overall interests of BN and now is for all BN members everywhere to do their part to help the BN candidates to win," he added.
