PAS vice-president Datuk Iskandar Abdul Samad is disappointed with several parties who had been twisting facts about the decision made during the PAS Muktamar (general assembly) involving its relationship with DAP.

“Some people have been going on non-stop about the PAS Constitution, but the motion they understand is not the motion that was passed by the muktamar.

“I don’t know why the decision has been twisted to such an extent,” he said in his Facebook yesterday.

He explained that the motion did not outright terminate the Islamic party’s relationship with the DAP, but merely suggested to the Syura Ulama Council and the Central Committee to do so.

“The muktamar only decided to bring the matter to the Syura Ulama Council and the Central Committee. The actual decision has not been made yet.

“But some quarters decided to jump the gun and announced something that the muktamar did not even decide upon.

“They are claiming that the muktamar has decided to cut ties with DAP and that the decision must be abided,” he said.

On June 13, the Central PAS Dewan Ulama had uploaded a statement on the said motion on Facebook to explain the issue.

In the last paragraph of the text, it stated: “Therefore the 54th PAS Dewan Ulama Muktamar has suggested to the Syura Ulama Council and the PAS Central Committee to cancel the political cooperation with DAP and PAS to remain in Pakatan Rakyat.”
