Tamrin Abdul Ghafar, the son of the late deputy prime minister Tun Abdul Ghafar Baba, today announced that he has withdrawn from the People's Declaration Secretariat led by former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

He has also confirmed that he will not join the new political party that was being formed by Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

"The decisions are final and take effect today," he said in a statement on Friday, while adding that both decisions were made after thinking about them thoroughly

For the moment, he said, he had not joined any political party after leaving PAS in 2014.

Muhyiddin had submitted the application to form a new party called Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia on Aug 9 at the Registrar of Societies (ROS) in Putrajaya.
