MIC members have been advised not to attend the 2009 appointed Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting scheduled to be held today evening.

MIC deputy president, Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam stated that the 5pm meeting is illegal as it was organised by a non-party member.

He also stressed that Datuk Seri G. Palanivel's membership had been revoked on February 24 and which disqualifies him to call for a CWC meeting.

"Datuk Seri G. Palanivel lost his membership on February 24. Hence this is an illegal meeting. I request all members of MIC to ignore all statements about this meeting," stated Subramaniam in a media statement today.

Members are urged to ignore the notice and to avoid being trapped into an ‘illegal’ meeting.

Subramaniam was commenting on the reported CWC meeting scheduled to be chaired by Palanivel.

The meeting believed to only involve Palanivel supporters is said to set the party’s re-election dates.

Subramaniam last week had announced that the party would hold re-elections for all levels by October.
