Selangor Menteri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali today denied that the state assembly will be dissolved following the open spat between allies, PAS and DAP.

“No, it's not the issue. We have been meeting them for the last few days,” he was quoted by online portal, Malaysiakini.

He said they have discussed the current political crisis between the partners and on the future of the Pakatan Rakyat.

Asked to comment further, he said the discussions are still on-going.

Relationship between DAP and the Islamist party deteriorated following PAS’s move to table the Hudud Bill at the Kelantan state assembly and the proposal to table a Private Bill on Hudud at the Parliament.

DAP which had heavily criticised the move had also lashed out at PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang and had decided to sever all ties with him.

PAS, meanwhile, at its 61st Muktamar, had also approved a motion without debate, to sever all ties with DAP.

However, the motion also wanted PAS to maintain the tahaluf siyasi or political cooperation in the opposition pact with the PKR.

Following the latest development, DAP's Lim Kit Siang had declared that the PR may cease to exist.
