Barisan Nasional (BN) Sabah has given the assurance to field 85 per cent new faces in the State Election (PRN) next month.

Its chairman, Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin said the new faces to be selected will consist of youths.

According to him, the new faces who will be selected as candidates in the Sabah PRN also consist of those who have never contested before.

"I have given the assurance from the beginning, out of 100 per cent, 85 per cent are new faces. These new faces are from people who have never contested, young people and we will combine.

"Only 15 per cent I see who have competed whether they won or have lost. If the people want us, we shall field them," he told the SuaraTV portal.

Commenting further, Bung Moktar who is also Member of Parliament for Kinabatangan said BN is aware that young people play an important role in the administration of the country.

"Today we understand that the young are not like before, they are not just second echelon leaders but should be made state or national leaders.

"So, we put it in a new agreement or new deal so that young people have confidence in UMNO and BN.

"Through this new agreement, we will do it. If we do not do it in the next five years, the people can kick us out," he added.

The Election Commission (EC) has set September 12 for nomination day while polling day will be on September 26.
