The Registry of Societies Malaysia (RoS) will issue instructions to the DAP to hold a new re-election of the Central Executive Committee (CEC) to select 20 eligible members.

RoS director general Datuk Mohammad Razin Abdullah said the RoS considers the DAP as a legitimate party and so far does not have intentions to de-register it.

“In light of the complaints made by DAP members who were dissatisfied with the DAP’s CEC re-election conducted on 29 September 2013, RoS believes the appointment of the CEC members as well as the main position holders through that re-election, is illegal.

“The re-election should be based on the list of delegates entitled to attend and vote for DAP’s CEC elections dated December 15, 2012, involving 2576 delegates from 865 branches,” he said in a statement.

In 2013 the RoS had ordered a re-election of DAP’s CEC after it found irregularities and manipulation of votes in its December 2012 election.

A re-election was carried out in September 2013 but there were claims by some party members that they were denied the right to attend as delegates.
