MIC acting president Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam said the Registrar of Societies (RoS) had agreed for the MIC to holdre-election of the 2013 party polls.

He said theRoShad agreed to the proposal by the 2009-2013 interim central working committee (CWC) to holdre-election from July to Oct, 2015.

"We were informed of this matter in a letter fromRoS, dated today (Tuesday)," he said at a press conference after the breaking of fast event, by his ministry, on Tuesday.

"This is an endorsement by theRoSof the MIC CWC by allowing us to hold the re-election in that period of time," he said.

The RoS had ordered for re-election of the November 2013 party polls following discrepancies in the results. The party was told to hold re-electionsfor the polls from April to July this year but party president Datuk Seri G.Palanivelhad taken the matter to court, resulting in the delay.

On June 15, the High Court dismissed two judicial review applications by Palanivel and other MIC leaders challenging the Registrar of Societies order for the party to hold fresh elections.

Judge Justice Asmabi Mohamad ruled that the court has no reason to interfere withRoSdecision and dismissed the applications to pay RM90,000 in costs.
