The Barisan Nasional (BN) machinery in 38 polling districts in Rompin been reminded to ensure people come out to vote in the by-election there on Tuesday.

BN's chief coordinator for the by-election, Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein said it was to ensure that the 85 per cent voter turn out target was achieved, while increasing BN's vote majority.

"The BN machinery should look for voters, (and) make sure they vote on Tuesday," he said during a visit to the BN operations room in Keratong 8 here, Sunday night.

He said the BN Youth movement was also asked to help in terms of providing shuttle service for voters who had transport problems.

Hishamuddin said he was confident the BN machinery was able to carry out their duties effectively, because the structure of party officials working in the Rompin constituency was among the best in the country.

He said the Rompin parliamentary constituency should remain a BN stronghold to ensure that the people's development agenda could continue.

A total of 52,744 people are elegible to vote on Tuesday, while 464 out of 545 early voters cast their ballots last Thursday.

The Rompin by-election will witness a straight fight between Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate Datuk Hasan Arifin and Ahmad Nazri of PAS to fill the vacancy following the death of incumbent Tan Sri Dr Jamaluddin Jarjis.
