Legal action will be taken against the Registrar of Societies (RoS) should they refuse to retract their letters of order regarding the re-elections of MIC by next Monday, said party president Datuk Seri G. Palanivel.

In a press conference held in Kuala Lumpur today, Palanivel said that RoS had showed a blatant disregard to the law and urged for it to withdraw all its letters including letters dated December 5, 2014, December 31, 2014 and February 6, 2015.

"We will take legal action against the RoS as their conduct throughout this crisis showed a blatant disregard for the party's constitution," said Palanivel.

He added that their directive for the 2009 Central Working Committee (CWC) members to form the interim CWC has inadvertently reverted him as Acting President.

"They are in no position to do that. I have won unopposed in 2013 as the President of this party," stressed Palanivel.

The issue had risen following RoS directive on December 5, ordering MIC to hold fresh elections for its three vice-presidents and 23 CWC post within 90 days.

On February 6, RoS had warned MIC that failure to comply to the instructions issued to MIC for a re-election to be held would lead to the party’s de-registration.

The re-election, would be managed by the party’s 2009 CWC members who will act as office bearers of an interim CWC until the election is completed.
