Puteri UMNO has denied news on the social media of resignations of several divisional leaders of the wing in Johor over the removal of Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as the deputy prime minister.

"There is no truth to the news that has gone viral. I advise all quarters not to be influenced by such talk which is aimed at disuniting the party," said Puteri UMNO chief Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin.

She advised members of the party wing to ensure that their sources of news on the social media were genuine and not to rush into believing everything that they read or heard.

"I also want Puteri UMNO members to redouble efforts to register more voters," she told reporters after opening the Bakri Puteri UMNO Division delegates meeting here last night.

Mas Ermiyati, who was newly appointed deputy minister of tourism and culture, said Puteri UMNO believed that the removal of Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as the deputy prime minister would not undermine party unity, especially in Johor where Muhyiddin comes from.

UMNO was fortunate to have a deputy president whose love for the community and party was strong, she said.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, in a Cabinet reshuffle last Tuesday, replaced Muhyiddin with Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi as the deputy prime minister.

He also dropped four other ministers and appointed seven new ones, saying he needed a solid and unified team moving in the same direction to deliver for Malaysia.
