Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) is officially launched here last night.

The launching ceremony, which was performed by its chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad at Malawati Stadium, was also attended by PPBM president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

In his speech, Dr Mahathir touched on, among others, how to face Barisan Nasional (BN) in the coming general election.

Among the opposition leaders present were Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) president Datuk Seri Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, Parti Amanah Negara president Mohamad Sabu and DAP vice-chairman Teresa Kok.

On Sept 8 last year, the Registrar of Societies (ROS) approved in principle an application for the registration of PPBM, but the official approval was only given after the party provided an explanation on the roles and functions of its president and chairman to ROS. -- Bernama
