The People's Justice Party (PKR) has given the impression that it has nominated MPs from the party as the new prime minister.

PKR secretary-general, Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said, the matter was informed by PKR members after a session with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, today.

“We are thankful that the Member of Parliament from PKR has started the process of giving us feedback on the candidate for Prime Minister since 11 am.”

“We have named the preferred candidate earlier. All I know is that the preferred candidate is from PKR,” he said, when met by reporters here today.

He said this after speaking to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong for an interview with His Majesty on Wednesday.

Although the name of the candidate for Prime Minister was not specified, it is believed to refer to PKR President Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Anwar had earlier revealed that he had pleaded Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad to remain as Prime Minister during a meeting with the former Prime Minister on Monday.
