KUANTAN:Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin arrived at Istana Abdul Aziz, Indera Mahkota, at around 4:40 pm on Friday.

Earlier, at around 4:30 pm, the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustaffa Billah Shah was reported to have entered the courtyard of the same palace after visiting the tomb of his father in Pekan.

However, media practitioners were only allowed to be around 100 meters from the palace gate.

Currently, speculation is rife that the Prime Minister is having an audience with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong to obtain consent to carry out an emergency.

The Singapore Straits Times quoted an unnamed source as saying that the Cabinet Special Meeting in Putrajaya this morning was to discuss some proposals related to the presentation of the 2021 Budget scheduled for next month, when the country is still 'at war' with the third wave of COVID-19.

One option at the moment is an economic emergency, which could frustrate the possibility of an election, thus giving the government more time to handle the COVID-19 pandemic without being disturbed by the political crisis.
