International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed has labeled the plan to prevent former Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin from officiating the UMNO Delegates' meeting during the party's General Assembly meeting in December, as a mere rumour.

Thus, Mustapa has advised everyone including UMNO members, to not believe the rumours and instead, focus on efforts to strengthen the party.

Mustapa said he himself “has not heard of” such rumours and hoped it would be put to an end in order to avoid any speculations.

"I have not heard any rumors. I have not heard any rumors related to it. Think of it as merely a rumour,” he said after attending a Joint Coordination Committee on Industry (JBI), here, today.

Also present was Kedah Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir.

Yesterday, when answering questions at a dialogue session titled ‘Berani Kerana Benar’, organized by Sinar Harian in Johor Baharu, Muhyiddin admitted to have heard rumours on a plan to prevent him from officiating the UMNO Delegates' meeting.

Traditionally the meeting is officiated by the party's deputy president.
