Perak Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) has denied claims that some members from the state's 24 divisions had urged Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to resign as president.

Its chairman Faizal Azumu said the matter was never raised and referred to the statement issued by PPBM Ipoh Timur Division chief sponsor Azrul Suhadi Ahmad Mokhtar against Muhyiddin, as a betrayal.

"Azrul's statement related to his position as PPBM Perak's chief registrar is also not accurate as the post had been suspended on March 31 and he is only Ipoh Timur division chief sponsor at this point," he said.

The party believed the action taken by Azrul was masterminded by a few individuals who were disappointed after they failed to hold high positions in PPBM, he said.

"These are the real traitors in the party who are thorns in the flesh with evil intentions against PPBM," he told a press conference at Taman Meru Impian here, today.

Yesterday, it was reported that Azrul Suhadi had during a press conference called for Muhyiddin's resignation after the latter had failed to carry out the responsibilities entrusted on him and used the influence of PPBM chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad to place his cronies in the party''s prominent positions.
