Former Kedah Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir once again reiterated that he is still a member of UMNO, despite being at loggerheads with the party.

Speaking at the People’s Congress 2016 here today, a smiling Mukhriz said, he purposely chose to wear a red shirt bearing UMNO logo although the programme also involved Opposition leaders.

“I’m aware that quite a number of people in this hall are UMNO members but they are afraid to wear any apparels resembling the party.

“I am ... gentlemen, my blood and flesh are made of UMNO, it isn’t easy for me to change (change party),” said a cool Mukhriz to thunderous applause from the audiences.

Earlier, former Pas’ vice-president Datuk Husam Musa said the call for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s resignation must not be turned into a racial or religious issues.

Said Husam, the effort for Najib to resign is a duty and not a choice. It is, however should not be a problem to anybody.

Pokok Sena MP, Datuk Mahfuz Omar said most leaders who attended the People’s Congress 2016 were not to take revenge of the past but for the future and the next generation.

Mahfuz added that he had a solid reason to take revenge as former PM Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad was the individual responsible in signing the paper when he was arrested under Internal Security Act (ISA).

“We are gathered here today not to reflect the past but for the future generation,” he said.
