Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng said the state's operations will not be affected if PAS representatives pull out of the state government.

“It must be reminded that the Penang state government is still stable and is not affected without PAS representatives’ involvement,” Lim said said in a press statement today.

Referring to the PAS Muktamar's decision to sever all ties with DAP, Lim said the Penang state exco in a meeting today wants PAS to order its representatives in the state government to resign from their posts.

Lim said the state exco believed that when PAS Muktamar decided to sever all ties with DAP, the PAS representatives in the Penang state government also have severed their ties with DAP leaders especially Lim, who is the DAP secretary-general and Chow Kon Yeow, the Penang DAP chairman and a state exco.

“The state government had enjoyed good relationship with Penang PAS members but it is treated as enemies by the new PAS leadership and their supporters,” Lim said in the statement.

Lim also praised PAS leaders Mohamad Sabu, Mujahid Yusof Rawa and Rosidi Hussain who had resigned from Penang state government positions, following the PAS Muktamar’s decision.

Lashing out at PAS, Lim said it is illogical for the party to now say that they are still discussing the motion to sever ties with DAP when they have passed the motion without debate at their Muktamar.

Following PAS's decision, DAP's leader Lim Kit Siang had warned that the Pakatan Rakyat would cease to exist.
