Parti Pejuang Tanah Air (Pejuang) aims to win 36 Parliamentary seats in the next election.

Its founder, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said the number does not allow the party to form a government but Pejuang can decide which party will be the government.

He stressed that Pejuang is an independent party, not tied to any party, which sometimes a small party can also play a big role.

"If we have 36 seats, we will be in a situation where we can choose to join any coalition, but to join, they must comply with our conditions, then only we will join.

“We already have a list of more than 18 MPs in Sabah and Sarawak, not Pejuang MPs but they are with us and they believe in our principles.

"So, we will work with them and hope that in the Peninsula as well, there will be people who support us," he said.

He said this in a press conference at the Perdana Leadership Foundation here which was also attended by Jerlun Member of Parliament, Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir and several other Pejuang leaders.

Meanwhile, Dr Mahathir stressed that Pejuang is now ready for the 15th General Election (GE15) even though the party has yet to be officially registered.

He said if the Registrar of Societies Department (RoS) has not yet registered the party in GE15, the party leadership has other strategies and ways to deal with it.

Astro AWANI on August 19 reported that Pejuang was officially registered using the Jawi letter ‘Pa’ as its logo.

The future president of Pejuang, Mukhriz explained the 'blue pantone' logo also has three dots which means the Pillars of Islam, the Pillars of Faith and the Rukun Negara.

The name of the party uses the symbol with the letter 'Pa', meaning a fighter with three dots above, symbolizing the three pillars - the Pillars of Islam, the Pillars of Faith and the Rukun Negara.

"We hope this will be a symbol of our struggle, especially the Malays and Malaysians in general," he said.
