PAS had expressed readiness to announce the amount of political funds it had received so far in accordance with the announcement on the formation of the National Consultative Committee on Political Funding (JKNMPP) today.

PAS secretary-general Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan said PAS had no objection to declare all donations received by the party as it had all receipts and complete records on it.

"We have no problem to declare our funds because we usually received public donations, such as during ceramah, where we would announce the amount of the donations received at that particular time," he told Bernama.

He said that by law, each political party was allowed to raise funds and need only to declare the list of party expenses during elections.

"Having political funds and party expenses during elections are two different things, we have to be clear about that," he said.

In announcing the formation of JKNMPP in Putrajaya earlier on Friday, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said it was aimed to draw up a political funding action plan of integrity that is comprehensive and inclusive.

Meanwhile, Takiyuddin said JKNMPP membership should be open to all parties, including opposition politicians, to ensure that the action plan would be transparent and comprehensive.

"Every political party must have a representative in the committee, just as other committees established at the national level," he said.
