The breaking up of the opposition coalition between PAS and PKR by PAS Muktamar (Annual General Assembly) on Thursday was expected as they were not heading towards the same destination.

MCA president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said the people should see through the opposition's game to champion their personal and party interests compared to the interest of the people.

As an example, Liow referred to the situation in Selangor when the opposition held a by-election in Kajang without any urgent needs except to raise the salaries of elected representatives after gaining the trust of the people.

"When they have received the people''s mandate, they should deliver their services to the people. But all of them want to be the head and all acted in their own interests.

""Earlier they set up Pakatan Rakyat which collapsed and later Pakatan Harapan which is also seen as having no hope and turned chaotic instead," he told reporters after launching the 71st national level Road Transport Department (JPJ) Day celebrations in Bentong here today.

On Thursday, PAS general assembly passed a motion without debate to sever ''tahaluf siyasi'' (political cooperation) with PKR and before that party leadership Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang also cut ties with DAP, Parti Amanah Negara and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia.
