Pas leadership must stop paying tug of war with UMNO and reassess the offer to work together with the party in the coming 14th general election (GE14), said chairman of Pas Advisory Board, Datuk Mustafa Ali.

He said the collaboration with UMNO, as proposed by UMNO Information Chief Tan Sri Annuar Musa in early October, would be the best alternative for Pas to win more seats in the GE14.

"To me, accepting it does not mean we are with Barisan Nasional...and I do not think that Annuar would invite Pas to join UMNO.. if he did, I personally would not agree to it and would fight it.

"If we want to discuss this collaboration, there are many concepts, like that of 'tahalluf' dan 'tabayyun'... which I feel UMNO and Pas can discuss... for the sake of the country's future.

"However, I have yet to see a serious response from Pas leadership, and when there is no serious response, I think something is not right," he told reporters here on Sunday.

He added that there had been some discussions about this collaboration but the proposal was never finalised.
