Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) can form a new Sabah state government after obtaining a simple majority in the 16th Sabah State Election (PRN) as of 11.30 pm tonight.

This was after the coalition won 37 of the 65 seats that have been officially announced so far.

Election Commission (EC) chairman Datuk Abdul Ghani Salleh said the coalition had obtained 37 from the Perikatan Nasional (17 seats), Barisan Nasional (14 seats) and Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) (six seats) each.

"Parti Warisan Sabah (24 seats), Bebas (two seats) while Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) and UPKO each have one seat," he said at a press conference on Saturday night.

So far, eight more DUN seats have not been officially announced by the EC.
