Datuk Seri G. Palanivel today said nobody spoke to Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam after the Cabinet meeting on Wednesday.

Palanivel, who took this a sign that he is the Cabinet-endorsed MIC president, said Dr Subramaniam was grim-faced throughout the meeting.

Speaking to reporters after chairing a MIC central working comittee (CWC) meeting at Putrajaya today, Palanivel maintained he was still the party president despite being 'ousted' by Dr Subramaniam, and said there could never be an acting president.

"Dr Subramaniam is going around claiming to be the acting president. How can that be? He has lost his mind," he said.

"I am still the president," he stressed.

The MIC has been embroiled in crisis following the Registrar of Societies’ order for a re-election of the 2013 party polls.
