Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Datuk Mohamad Ariff Md Yusof disallows the request for a special parliamentary session to be held next Monday.

In a statement today, he said the request from Interim Prime Minister, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, does not fulfil Standing Order 11(3) because it was not accompanied by a complete notice for the motion (to be debated).

“Based on the Standing Order 11(3), I, as the Speaker will notify the timing of a sitting. No notice has been issued yet.”

“Moreover, I am of the opinion that a special sitting will be held only after receiving the decree from the Yang di-Pertuan Agong in the process of appointing a new Prime Minister," said Ariff.
