No one is spared from any legal action including the former prime minister, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, Datuk Seri Azalina Othman said Dr Mahathir would face legal action like anyone else following his involvement in the recently-concluded Bersih 5 rally held in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday.

“Since I've dabbled in politics, I've known Dr Mahathir and most former MPs were known to abide by the regulations and laws. They too were aware that once the law is breached, they would face legal action," Azalina told the media at the Parliament lobby, here today.

“I’m sure they are wise, clever and intelligent enough to realise that no one is above the law ... even if you're a former PM," she added.

Deputy Home Minister Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed on Sunday said that he does not rule out the possibility that Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad would be called by the police for participating in the Bersih 5 rally last Saturday.

Nur Jazlan pointed out that, if the participation of the former leader of the country with his friend will increasing the number of protesters, the police will not hesitate to call him or detained him.
