Several individuals, whose names appeared on a list of supposed members of the new political party, Parti Melayu Baru Bersatu (MBB), yesterday came forward to deny their involvement with the party.

The list of high-profile names, which included several former UMNO leaders, had went viral on social media.

In the list, former deputy prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin was named President; former Cabinet minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal as Deputy President; Datuk Mohd Zaid Ibrahim, Datuk Husam Musa and Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir as Vice Presidents and Tan Sri Rafidah Aziz as Treasurer.

Other names listed in the list also included former attorney-general Tan Sri Abdul Ghani Patail, ex-Bank Negara governor Tan Sri Zeti Akhtar Aziz, Perkasa president Datuk Ibrahim Ali, former Utusan Malaysia senior editor Ku Seman Ku Hussein as well as social activist Hishamuddin Rais.

In his comment, Ibrahim said he believed that the circulation of the list was done by some irresponsible party, in an attempt to smear the names of those listed.

Ku Seman in his Facebook page said, the method used to generate the list was very amateur, in a possible attempt to jeopardise and make fun of the establishment of the party.

"I can say that this is the work of cybertroopers who are amateurs and still not skillful in their 'warfare'.

"My advice is, use a smarter approach. If you are still not knowledgeable, please learn and do not embarrass yourself," he said.

Ku Seman said he was alerted of the list via the multimedia messaging system (MMS) sent by his son who is currently in Amsterdam.
