Former Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said he will be applying to register a new political party with the Registrar of Societies (RoS) soon.

"Let us pray that the application will be approved," he wrote on his Facebook page today.




Meanwhile, former Wanita Umno leader Anina Saadudin told The MalayMailOnline that Muhyiddin will be the new party's president.

She said the pro-tem committee members of the new party are former premier Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, his son Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir, Gabungan Ketua Cawangan Malaysia president Kamarul Azman Habibur Rahman, student group Challenger leader Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman and Akhramsyah Muammar Ubaidah Sanusi.

On June 24, UMNO Supreme Council sacked Muhyiddin who was the party's deputy president together with Mukhriz.

The decision was made because the two leaders had shared the same stage with the Opposition and attacked the party's leadership.
