Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin's re-entry into UMNO will receive the support of many party leaders in addition to the guarantee that the Pagoh MP may continue to lead the country as prime minister.

UMNO supreme council member Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman said if that happened, it would be like Muhyiddin returning to where he belongs.

"Once you become an UMNO member, it is up to the party members to determine one's leadership.

"He (Muhyiddin) should not be scared. Just go in (rejoin UMNO first), we give him the assurance we will support. After he becomes (prime minister) we see where appropriate, we will support.

"For political stability, I think he should join UMNO, form his government and do the best for the country and the people," he said at a press conference after visiting a local company facility responsible for supplying LRT trains to Prasarana, Hartasuma here, on Thursday.

Previously, Padang Rengas MP, Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz suggested Muhyiddin should rejoin UMNO and strengthen the largest Malay party.

According to Nazri, all UMNO members and leaders should be open and accept Muhyiddin to rejoin the party.

Nazri also suggested that if Muhyiddin returned to UMNO, the party's presidency would also be handed over to the Pagoh MP.
