The MIC must understand the pulse, needs and aspirations of the younger generation, its president, Datuk Seri Dr. S.Subramaniam said.

"We have to understand the issues and problems they face and organise specific programmes which will restore their confidence in the party," he told a press conference after attending the Johor MIC Special Convention here on Friday.

The convention which was held following the re-election of leaders at the division and branch levels recently, was attended by about 1,000 delegates.

Also present was the chairman of Johor MIC Liaison Committee, Datuk M Asojan.

Subramaniam also said he was not worried about MIC's ability to win over voters in Johor as it had won all contested seats in previous general elections.

"It was only in the last general election that we lost one of the five seats that were contested.

"As such, we have to work harder to regain the seat that was lost and at the same time, retain the other seats too," he said.
